Shadows is a science fictional series that follows the lives of a group of Shadows. It follows two characters in particular, Eliza Clearwater and Ashton Forester. The story itself is told from first person point of view by a different character in each chapter. Other main characters are William Cash and his brothers Dan and Sam along with Mary Butler, Anna Donald, Eliza's sister Cassandra Nurse, and Ashton's sister Taylor Forester.

Settings
The stories take place mainly in Grove City, Pennsylvania. This is an actual place in the United States of America. Other locations are in Iowa (Le Mars to be specific), Michigan, Montana, Ohio, Mexico, the Unfortunate Triangle, Red Planet, and Eyeball Planet.
The Difference Between Shadows and Rays
Throughout the series, the group grows up and tries to figure out who they are as Shadows. All they know for sure is that Shadows and Rays are humans with super powers. The only difference is that Rays want to destroy the "normal" humans and the Shadows don't. The two sides aren't quite sure about their history, however they do hate each other with a passion. So far, the two groups have been able to keep their differences hidden from a majority of humans. With the growing number of Shadows and Rays, it is becoming more difficult to maintain secrecy. The Shadows used this secrecy for their name claiming that they are like shadows, hiding in plain day and protecting the humans from the Emperor's reign. The Rays, led by The Emperor (no one knows his real name), decided to counter the Shadows by calling themselves Rays, claiming that they are sharp as the sun's rays, penetrating the humans and destroying them all. The two sides have never been able to to come up with a name that combines them both as super humans and probably never will. They hate each other so much that the thought of being grouped together is unbearable. Of course not everyone feels this way. Some believe that there should be a name to call Shadows and Rays.
